Your Turn

Plugged in Teens

1.20.10

We all know how much of a time-suck Facebook can be, but have you ever thought about how much time you really spend on your computer, cell phone or using other technology like video games? A recent national survey by Kaiser Family Foundation found that teens and tweens are spending more time than ever using media.

According to the study, 8-18 year olds devote an average of 7 hours and 38 minutes to using entertainment media across a typical day. That's more than 53 hours a week -- more time than a full-time job should take! And, since teens often use multiple types of media at once, they manage to pack about 10 hours and 45 minutes of entertainment content into those 7 plus hours.

Tell us us how much time you spend using technology. Start by admitting if you think it might be too much, then fess up to how much time you actually do spend. Think about it -- do you wear headphones when you study? Ever watch TV while you're in front of a computer too? We want to know your thoughts!
