How about some #hashtags?
This past week Facebook announced that they will now allow the use of hashtags in status postings “similar to other services like Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest”. A hashtag, introduced by Twitter, is a way to add context to your postings and categorize messages. For the past few years, Facebook users have complained that the social media website isn’t compatible with the use of hashtags. Facebook says that the use of hashtags will invite users to discuss things communally and will integrate with the hashtags used on Instagram.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
Not your average ‘lost dog’
A pet shop owner in Bangkok, Thailand has been arrested after Thai police found hundreds of protected animals in a warehouse. Among the birds, meerkats, tortoises, peafowls, capuchin monkeys and other species from overseas, 14 white lions imported from Africa were discovered in the warehouse. The man could be charged with possession of wildlife and carcasses and could face up to four years in prison. Thailand is known for being a large contributor of protected animals to the black market. After being confiscated by police, the animals will remain in the care of the Department of Natural Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation.
Things are heating up in the NBA
The San Antonio Spurs took the lead in the series after winning game 5 against the Miami Heat Sunday night. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili joined the rest of the Spurs team to put up a solid 114 points. Coming in as the underdogs, the Spurs have surprised fans and NBA analysis. The spurs haven’t played for a championship since the 2006-07 season when they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in 4 games to take the title. Game 6 will be played in Miami on Tuesday night.
Ideas are flying
It’s a bird, it’s a plan! No, it’s a… bicycle? In the Czech Republic this past week three companies teamed up and revealed their prototype of a flying bicycle. This battery-powered bicycle is fitted with two propellers in the front, two in the back, and one on each side. Weighing in at a modest 209 pounds, the mountain bike lookalike went for a remote controlled test flight that lasted about five minutes. Could bicycle flight be the next form of transportation? Let us know what you think!
