California recently became the first state to ban plastic bags at grocery and convenience stores. Under the new legislation, starting next summer, major retail stores like Wal-Mart and Target will be phasing out the use of plastic bags at checkout counters.  In 2016, convenience stores and pharmacies will follow compliance. The only exception under the new law would be bags used for fruits, vegetables or meats, or shopping bags used at other retailers.

Although plastic bags are horrible for the environment, I believe that it’s not the plastic bags hurting nature, it’s simply the people leaving them everywhere.
