Team OneVote: Brooke Reaves

By Tonka Dobreva 09.01.2016 blog

While most people may think of Hannah Montana when they hear the ‘Best of Both Worlds’, 16-year-old Brooke Reaves thinks of her political views. Identifying as a Libertarian, Brooke believes that our current two-party political system just doesn’t work. Libertarianism, in general, is more fiscally conservative (like the Republican Party) but more socially liberal (like the Democratic Party). Because of how divided the current front-runners for office are, Brooke thinks that now is the perfect time for Libertarians to say, “Hey, country, there’s another option!”

Brooke grew up with her parents working as small business owners, and after she took a class on politics in high school, she knew that she didn’t agree with government interference. She places a high value on any laws outlined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights and thinks that teens should be more involved in the political debate. After all, the policies set forth by current leaders will affect the younger generations more than anyone. Brooke’s hot topic issues are civil liberties, non-interventionism and free market capitalism. She believes that her contribution to Team OneVote is her fresh voice that may not be the most popular but is certainly original and passionate.
