Last spring, Shelby Holliday told you about Brook Peters, a 14 year old who was attending his second day of kindergarten in lower Manhattan on September 11th, 2001.
This picture is of Brook on the first day of school that year, September 10th.
When Brook was just 11, he started work on a documentary about that day. His completed work was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival this year. Now, we are happy to share the news that his film is now available for purchase on DVD and to rent for online streaming.
The documentary lends a unique perspective to the attacks that day — both of the people that lived in lower Manhattan and of the students and teachers affected and who eventually had to return to their school communities in the neighborhood.
What’s more, Brook is taking his message of understanding about 9/11 and finding strength to heal from tragedy by not stopping his work with the film. He’s created a campaign, Show Your Strength, to encourage others to share where they found their own inner strength.
