A double hit is actually an illegal move in volleyball. If a player hits the ball twice in succession before another player hits it, the referee calls the violation and the game play stops. The ball is then turned over to the opposing team.

What is the difference between a kill and attack?
A kill is a completed play and an attack is a type of play. When a player scores a point, it’s called a kill. An attack is an offensive play in the form of a spike, hit or any other attempt from a hitter to get the ball over the net without passing.
What’s a pancake in volleyball?
A technique used to keep the ball from hitting the floor. When a player slides his or her hand underneath the ball, palm down before it hits the ground. This defensive move is an attempt to keep the other team from scoring when another move isn’t possible.
What’s a rainbow?
A hit over the net is an arc trajectory. When a ball is hit over the blockers on the opposite team in an arc to the back line of players, it’s called a rainbow.
How many times can one team touch the ball before it must go over the net to the other team?
Players may hit, pass, set or spike the ball, but it must go over the net after the ball has been touched three times.
When was volleyball first played as an official event in the Summer Olympics?
Beach volleyball made its summer Olympic debut as an official event in 1996. The original form of volleyball was first played in the Summer Olympics in Paris of 1924, however, it did not become an official sport until 1964, just as beach volleyball was rising in popularity across the globe.
In Olympic beach volleyball, is a team allowed a substitution?
