Subjects like Chemistry and Algebra can be tough, but luckily you have teachers there to guide you through and clear everything up. Teachers can be a great resource, whether you need help with a tricky problem or need help figuring out a career. Many teachers also go above and beyond just teaching, and dedicate themselves to making a change in their students’ lives. Keep reading to learn about some really cool teachers that are going above and beyond to help their students learn.
Even if you love science, it can be hard to get excited about Physics class. That’s why teacher Mr. Wright makes it fun by including students in his experiments. Beyond just being a great teacher, he’s also built a reputation for listening and engaging his students about their issues outside of the classroom. Watch the video below to see how Mr. Wright gets his students motivated:
Many people believe that drones are the future of technology. They are plans to use them to deliver mail, rescue people in hard to reach places, and help put out forest fires. That’s why Mr. Dickerson at Brandon High School started teaching his students how to program and fly drones. Since then they’ve written over 15,000 lines of code and got to fly a drone all over their school to take pictures from above.
Some teachers are not only good at teaching, but funny too. Every year for April Fool’s Professor Matthews pulls a complicated prank on his students using technology. Watch his most recent one below:
In 2015, Ms. Atwell was the first winner of a competition to find the world’s best teacher. Her win came after 40 years of teaching literacy to students. After realizing that the kids didn’t respond well to assigned books and writing, she began to allow her students to choose their own books and writing assignments. Right away they were more engaged and did far better in class. She also started her own school, to which she donated her $1 million in prize money.
Getting hands on experience is one of the best ways to figure out if a career is right for you, and Ms. Cooper at Grandview High School is making that possible for her students. Through a program called ProStart, she gets her students involved with local businesses so that students get real-world experience while they’re still in school. Some realize that their chosen profession isn’t for them, while some discover a new passion.
