According to the National Park Service, 500 million plastic straws are used in the U.S. every day! Often, when disposed, they end up in landfills or the ocean. There is a movement to get rid of plastic straws and replace them with more eco-friendly alternatives, like paper straws. Some restaurants have already adopted the new trend. Cities across the country are taking action as well — starting in July, Seattle is about to ban plastic straws and utensils. Malibu, Calif. is implementing a similar ban in June.
But not everyone thinks banning plastic straws is a good idea. Some restaurant owners worry about the cost of biodegradable alternatives and how that may affect the prices you see on the menu. Other people are concerned that halting the production of plastic straws means a loss of jobs.

I think edible spoons are good because you reduce the plastic waste in oceans and land. Also, you can eat more with them and arent soggy.
