What Is a Solar Eclipse?

By Tonka Dobreva 08.20.2017 interact

A solar eclipse is one of the most fascinating natural phenomena that people can witness. And if you happen to be lucky, you may even witness the rare event that is a total solar eclipse.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between the sun and Earth. A total solar eclipse  occurs when the sun, moon and Earth are in direct line, and the moon casts a large shadow onto Earth’s surface. Watch the NASA video below to get a better understanding of the science behind the total solar eclipse.
